On Saturday, September 28, 2024 the Dream Keepers Foundation hosted the inaugural Black Tie Scholarship Gala to raise funds to support scholarships for college bound students that will be attending four-year institutions; and students matriculating at trade schools and pursuing career certification programs.
Held at Bally’s Casino Resort in Dover, Delaware, the event promoted as “an evening of elegance and a celebration of excellence” featured an arrival social; a red carpet photoshoot; VIP social for event sponsors that featured the famed “The Quiet Storm” Jazz Ensemble; Community Excellence Awards Ceremony; and live entertainment from Best Kept Soul, Delaware’s premier live band.
The event showcased some of the youth participants of the Dover Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi’s Dream 13 Kappa League. 500 patrons helped raise more than $18,000 for the cause. In addition to the funds raised, the foundation issued $9,000 in scholarships during the event. “An event of this magnitude would not be possible without our sponsors” said Cliffvon Howell, president of the Dream Keepers Foundation. Howell added, “Our goal is to issue at least $15,000 in scholarships each year.” Stay tuned for announcements regarding the second Annual Black Tie Scholarship Gala.
